Review of the States of Jersey abattoir

Our review of Jersey’s abattoir included (i) an appraisal of the abattoir’s operational efficiency, its compliance with regulations, actual and potential throughput and the extent to which suppliers were dependent on the plant, (ii) analysis of the abattoir’s financial position, including its charging regimes and the proportion of subsidy implicit in its activities, (iii) drawing up terms of reference for the abattoir user group and (iv) providing recommendations for the operation and development of the abattoir, balancing cost-effectiveness and customer-focus.  We have subsequently undertaken a review and complete re-write of the HACCP plans used within the abattoir.
